Global Sourcing Manager – Commodity Chemicals
A Global player in the Specialty Chemicals industry manufacturing a vast range of performance chemicals, resins, and additives in their portfolio is seeking an experienced Procurement professional to lead purchasing activities globally for a key raw materials category. This position is crucial in the company’s growth plan given the fluctuations in the price of petrochemicals, and reports directly to the Head of Procurement.
Our client is a well-recognised international manufacturer in the Specialty Chemicals space with a portfolio of well-recognised products which are used in a variety of applications but primarily aimed at the Coatings, Adhesive and Sealants market. Due to the growth of the business combined with the ever-increasing need to improve bottom line performance in the global commodities market, the company is now looking to take on a senior sourcing candidate who will take responsibility for all Supplier Identification, Evaluation & Management, Negotiation, Deal Closing, Strategic Planning and assumes overall responsibility for cost saving targets for two sites serving North America. The company needs a knowledgeable and reliable purchasing professional who is comfortable assuming full accountability for a global spend of around $150-200M in basic chemicals, and delivery of profitability improvements.

You must be a motivated individual who is able to work closely with internal customers but generally work independently to build and execute a clear procurement strategy. Our client requires strong knowledge of commodity chemical procurement in order to make an effective transition into the role – candidates will have ideally sourced bulk quantities of commodity chemicals including acids, alcohols, polyols, and other bulk chemicals. Existing relationships with key suppliers are of interest but not a necessity. A clear career growth trajectory is planned for this position, with possibilities to move into a more centralised position managing headcount within procurement, and/or taking on a larger territory and spend responsibility.
You will be overseeing the Purchasing activities within a successful chemical manufacturer, supporting all sourcing, negotiation, supplier management, supplier selection and product quality monitoring for the monomers category globally. Cost-saving is of paramount importance, which will be achieved through highly detailed strategic planning, confident commodity handling, and competitive price negotiation. This position will be responsible for leading several strategic projects aimed at a large contribution to global profitability. A close relationship must be kept and developed with several internal stakeholders including Supply Chain, Demand Planning and Commercial teams to ensure thorough communication and better performance against targets. The position requires an energetic Procurement expert who is experienced in petrochemical/ monomer sourcing and buying, preferably having knowledge of end user markets like coatings, adhesives, sealants, plastics or textiles.
