Doubling the Headcount of a Disruptive Start-Up

The Challenge.

Predicine burst onto the liquid biopsy scene, but were now under pressure to double their headcount to meet increasing demand.

Predicine needed to double their headcount, fast. This included attracting and retaining a large number (50+) of certified medical assistants and medical support assistants, as well as a number of high-profile hires to lead a European expansion. They also needed to hire across numerous work locations across California. However, with a small number of competitors in the area, this talent pool was limited.

Without the previous experience of hiring en masse, Predicine’s internal hiring team were already stretched by their current contracting capacity. Much of this was down to the many processes involved in contract recruitment: search and selection, pre-qualification, interviewing, onboarding and subsequently managing payroll & expense procedures. Predicine were struggling to manage their existing contractor workforce of 125+ medical assistants, yet alone make any sizeable additions. So, they partnered with CM Life Science.

Our ClientHub meant we could attract, inform & engage quality candidates with Predicine’s employer brand.

A ClientHub is a bespoke website which allowed us to show off Predicine’s people and culture. This included a hero video, plus facts and stats about the business, as well as testimonials from its leadership team. We also created a podcast with Founder & CEO at Predicine, Shidong Jia, to attract, inform and engage candidates. 

Our Contractor Care Team ensured that contractors were having the best possible experience with Predicine & CM Life Science:

  • Compliant local payrolling.

Funded by CM Life Science, we provide compliant local payrolling that follows California state and federal regulation for overtime, minimum wage, payroll frequency and benefits.

  • Real-time payroll support.

We provide real-time payroll support in the US for any payroll-related contractor queries. Via our online portal, contractors can also submit their hours for Predicine timesheet approvers to review (without having to log into the portal themselves).

  • Healthcare plans.

Eligible contractors have access to the largest health insurance company in the US with three comprehensive plan options. Contractor insurances are also provided as standard.

  • Onboarding support.

We provide onboarding support, with a dedicated Care Team Consultant for contractors to speak with, should the need arise.

  • Offboarding support.

We manage all offboarding processes when contractors’ assignments come to an end, ensuring that they are fully supported throughout their journey with Predicine
